About:

Prior to his career in film, James Gerald Hicks was heavily involved in Sprint Canoe where he competed both provincially and nationally as a member of Team Ontario and was a "Quest for Gold" sponsored athlete. During the height of his career in sport, he chose to continue the pursuit of his academic studies at the University of Ottawa, completing his bachelor's degree in Fine Art with a specialization in sculpture as well as a minor in Theatre. Upon graduation, he continued his studies completing his master’s degree in Teaching at The University of Toronto. Possessing a lifelong love and passion for both film and fine art, Hicks turned his sights towards pursuing his dream of becoming both an actor and artist. Despite a brief transition to the film industry, he achieved immediate success booking his first role as the principal character Tommy in Lifetime’s feature film “Killer Mom”. After completing his first film and winning an acting scholarship to attend classes in Los Angeles, Hicks was urged to attend a talent showcase, where he was discovered by Al Onorato, founding member of the Casting Society of America (CSA), as well as former president of casting at Columbia Pictures. Shari Quallenberg currently represents him at AMI Artists in Toronto, Ontario. He is currently working full time fulfilling his passion to create art both on screen and in the studio.
